Mining company Anglo American QuellavecoDone with the presentations made by the Special Project Pasto Grande Regional (PERPG), the National Water Authority (ANA) and the mining company Anglo American Quellaveco on the issue of water availability in Moquegua, full of the Roundtable, approved the formation of a Technical Committee on Water Resources to analyze and evaluate such information.

The Technical Committee shall be composed of 07 organizations designated as coordinator PERPG, with the other members: Front Regional Agricultural Frontier Expansion of Moquegua, College of Engineering – Departmental Council Moquegua, Ilk Provincial Municipality, District Municipality the Algarroba Anglo American and ANA Quellaveco as technical advisor.

This working group will present the first steps for the next session of the Roundtable, scheduled for Wednesday, August 3, from 15:00 in the auditorium of the Regional Government Moquegua, where they also invite the General Mining Environmental Affairs, Ministry of Energy and Mines, Ministry of Environment and Anglo American, to address environmental issues.

Chilean Miners Saved Mario SepulvedaChilean miner Mario Sepulveda, who last October 12 was rescued from the San José mine, north of the South American country, said Tuesday he is willing to sue the owners of the mine before international courts if the state authorities do not apply deserved sanctions for failing to provide security for their workers.

In a press conference in the northern state of Atacama, Sepulveda explained that the measure go to the isopteran international judicial authorities in the country if not severely punished the owners of Mineral San Esteban, Marcelo Alejandro Bohn and Keenly.

The miner said he was willing to spend their own resources to seek exemplary punishment of those responsible for security at the site, whose failures ended in the collapse last August that left 33 workers buried.

Two years ago in this same mine, a worker had also died because of a collapse by the site owners were not responsible.

Sepulveda was the second miner rescued from the San José mine on 12 October. The worker remained trapped for 69 days over 700 meters deep.

After his departure, the miner said he wanted to give back the love for his country received considering the goal to build 200 houses for victims of the earthquake of February 27, 2010 in southern Chile.
